Terrible Alchemy

by Renée Yoxon

/

lyrics

I rambled into town all dressed in black,
With a hitch in my walk
And pale moonlight longing at my back.

I wasted no time getting my heart broke
By a sad young man
With dark eyes and demons of his own.

Terrible Alchemy
Turned my failing hip
To a broken heart,

Terrible Alchemy
Turns a dying light
To a brand new start.

My body’s cracking bones rattled in my ears,
My soul split wide
And out came pouring all my fears:

A tale of a middlun plagued by loneliness and woe.
How long will they suffer
Before death rings and says it’s time to go?

But fairytales have villains black as the crow
And a hero pure of heart
With sword held high to vanquish such a foe.

My life outside the page is a fickle as the sea
Revealed in my reflection
Both hero and villain live in me

Terrible Alchemy
Turned my fairytale
to a painful truth

Terrible Alchemy
Turned my cracking bones
To a fragrant fruit

Terrible Alchemy
Turned my failing hip
To a broken heart,

Terrible Alchemy
Turns a dying light
To a brand new start.
